Gustav Samuel Seiffert

Gus was born October 26 1889.

His parents were Samuel Adolph Seiffert and Charlotte Klukas. He was the seventh child of fourteen.

Gus married Mabel Satterlee in 1910. They lived at Grants Pass, Oregon. The couple later divorced.

He moved in with his sister Lydia about 1952.

Gus died in Taft, Oregon on November 16, 1957 of a heart attack at the age of 68 years, 20 days. He is buried at Park View Cemetery in Newberg, Oregon.

Funeral services for Gustaf Samuel Seiffert, age 68 will be held on Wednesday, November 28, at the North Lincoln Funeral Chapel at Delake with Reverend Paul Dickey officiating.
Mr Seiffert was born on October 25, 1889 in a German settlement in Russia. At an early age he was brought to this country by his parents, Samuel and Charlotte. After a short residence in North Dakota, his father was granted a,land claim at Scholls, Ore.
Mr Seiffert married in 1916 to Mabel Satterly. He was one of 14 children, of whom five survive: two brothers, Berthold of Beaverton and Edward of Scholls; and three sisters, Alvina Lankow of Winlock, Wash, Lydia Seiffert of Scholls and Emma Atrops of Beaverton; and 22 nieces and nephews.
Mr Seiffert spent several years working in a logging camp near Bend, then went to Grants Pass where he farmed. He moved to Depoe Bay 10 years ago, buying a fishing boat, and has been a commercial fisherman since that time. He was raised a member of the Lutheran church, was a member of Flotilla No 61 of the Depoe Bay Coast Guard Auxiliary, the Depoe Bay Booster club and Lodge No 161 of the IOOF at Scholls.


Neice Mary Jane remembers when she was learning to drive she was told to put the car away and backed the car into Uncle Gus's. Her father was not appreciative, but Uncle Gus told her not to worry.
