Adolph was born April 4, 1814 in Germany.

Adolph married Christiane Hickman in 1834 near Kiev and had ten children: Adolph Jr. (1839 to ?); Ludwig (1841 to ?); Ferdinand (1843 to ?); Gustaf (1845 to ?); Caroline (1847 to 1905); Bertha (April 5, 1848 to October 21, 1934); Samuel Adolph (November 1, 1849 to December 22, 1942); Rosine (July 4, 1852 to 1901); Julius (March 5, 1858 to ?); and Carl Robert (June 1, 1867 to ?).

He went to Poland and then on to Russia (Ukraine). He was a schoolteacher and "Kantor" lay minister in the area around Kiev.

Adolph immigrated to the U.S. through Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on August 24, 1892. In 1900 he is listed as living with his daughter Bertha in Minnesota.

Adolph died in Toad Lake, Evergreen Township, Becker County, Minnesota on April 21, 1901 at the age of 87 years, 17 days. He is buried at Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery in Toad Lake, Minnesota. (County Road 39 north, about 5 miles north of intersection of Hwy. 87 from Frazee)
